A magnificent Victorian manor on the serene North Fork
The Belvedere Bed and Breakfast at Peconic, is a truly unique experience. As you
enter this magnificent, regal home, you will feel as if you've gone back in time, to an
age of elegance and gentility. This 130 year-old Victorian Manor has been beautifully preserved and restored to its original elegance with today's conveniences. Hand-painted, fresco ceilings and walls grace the entryway, parlor, and staircase. It's been said that an old whaling Captain first built this house and artists came here and painted the ceilings and walls in exchange for room and board. It's a pity no records were kept of the identities of those artists!
Regal burgundy and gold is the color theme adorning the 12-foot ceilings and two Italianate marble fireplaces. Ceiling to floor, original, lead-glass windows encircle the dining alcove.
Go up the beautiful, hand-carved, winding, staircase to guest rooms that are newly decorated, with plush, queen-sized beds and private baths.
Enjoy the shade of our 300 year-old golden beech tree. Relax on an old-fashioned wicker love seat on the wrap-around porch. Enjoy and afternoon nap on our hand-crocheted hammock. Our two-acre property is beautifully landscaped with flowering perennials, fruit trees and evergreens for your enjoyment.
The home was named to celebrate the magnificent "belvedere" that graces the roof as the finishing touch to this architectural masterpiece. The woodcarving that decorates the cupola looks like fine lace typical of the Victorian era. From the "belvedere", which means beautiful view, one can see serene farmland and vineyards of the North Fork during the day and millions of stars at night.
