Midweek special: Check in Tuesday, check out Thursday, for half price anytime in June!

Hosts: Ellen & Dave Carbonell

When you come for a visit at Home Port B&B, leave your alarm clock behind. The smell of breakfast cooking is the only alarm clock you'll need!

Home Port is a beautifully decorated 1876 Victorian country home in the heart of Long Island's wine country, located on an acre of woodland property. All the best the North Fork has to offer is within minutes of our country home: wine tasting rooms; beautiful, uncrowded beaches; seafood dining; antique shops; art studios; and much more.

We offer private baths, gourmet breakfasts, air conditioned rooms, afternoon tea, and a relaxed atmosphere in which you can unwind. Bring a good book and enjoy lemonade on our wrap-around porch, under the shade of a majestic beech tree which has been shading that porch for more than 100 years.

More than a dozen wineries offer tours and tasting rooms nearby. Peconic Bay and the Long Island Sound are both within a mile, and we provide passes so you can enjoy the many scenic beaches along their shores. Greenport, with its lovely harbor facing Shelter Island, and its shops and waterfront restaurants, is ten minutes away.

If you need more exercise than swimming, there are tennis courts and a running track on parkland adjacent to our acre. Bicycle and kayak rentals are also available nearby.

In the evening, you can enjoy a beautiful sunset over the water, at a site where sea turtles come to nest, where our country road meets the Sound.

And when you return for a night's rest, antique-appointed rooms with private baths await you.

The Peach Room is a sunny four window bedroom overlooking the south and west gardens. This lovely room is full of comfort and history. A dramatic presentation of Victorian lace crowns the queen size antique mahogany bed, which is topped off by a genuine feather bed and plush quilts.

The Blue Room features a beautifully carved mahogany queen size bed topped with a feather bed and handmade quilts. Decorated in blue and white, this bright and cozy space has a private entrance to its own bathroom, with tub and shower.

The Gold Room is a sunny three window bedroom decorated in Victorian fashion with a beautifully detailed Biedermeier bed and antique inlaid armoire. A seating area is provided for evening reading. The king-size feather bed guarantees a relaxing sleep!

The Rose Room is a spacious area once used as an artist's studio, and was later converted to the master bedroom. The decorative fireplace in this room is original to the house and the furnishings reflect the Victorian tone. With a king-size feather bed and attached bath, the Rose Room is a delight, especially if you decide to stay for a longer visit.

Begin your day with the scent of a bountiful breakfast being prepared especially for you. Ellen is a morning person, gourmet cook, and passionate lover of brunch, all of which come together at the breakfast table. Start your morning dining with a steaming mug of freshly ground and brewed coffee, an assortment of the world's best teas, and seasonal fruits. The second course might be a yogurt and home made granola parfait, a chocolate croissant bread pudding, or a selection of fresh baked muffins and sweet breads, but be sure to save room for the hot entree to follow! Your main course arrives as a gourmet spin on the traditional breakfast, with selections that make the morning meal one of the most pleasurable parts of your visit to the North Fork, and the perfect start to your day.

And, if need be, you can ease your guilt over this indulgence with a run on the track nearby or a walk to the Sound.

We look forward to welcoming you to a fun weekend in a lovely setting. Come make yourself at home!

About Your Hosts...
David and Ellen are native New Yorkers who managed to live happily in Chicago for many years, despite the absence of an ocean. Each of them had a busy psychotherapy practice there, and in her spare time Ellen went to chef school. In August of 2001, they vacationed on the North Fork with their son, Adam. One sunny morning, a scheduled cruise on the schooner Mary E was postponed due to a mixup. On retiring to the Front Street Cafe to eat and revise their plans, they noticed a Cook-Pony Real Estate brochure with a beautiful photo of Home Port B&B on the cover...

And now they own it!

(Watch out... this could happen to you!)
