Rory Mac Nish

Rory's lifelong love of film began when he was young, taking over the photography on family vacations. It evolved into film and television in his high school years as he became responsible for taping sporting events, performances and educational pieces. He attended New York Institute of Technology and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in film and television.

His first job in television was at a UHF broadcast station called WLIG-TV on Long Island. He started as a videographer/editor and quickly moved up through the ranks to direct the half hour live news show. When they launched a half hour magazine-format show, featuring stories on Long Island, Rory was the natural choice to produce it.

From 1986 to 1995, Rory opened and ran his own business, a custom picture framing shop, photography studio and one-hour photo. During this time, he produced three posters featuring Long Island Wines, as well as a poster of the Bug Light Lighthouse, a restored lighthouse on the eastern end of Long Island. He began to show his work via the East End Photographer's Group in shows, and became a permanent fixture of Island Artists Gallery on Front Street in Greenport.

Rory's passion is color photography, having an uncanny ability to use the natural colors within a landscape to bring forth images that one never knew existed. Not unlike a painter, he utilizes his camera, film and the available surroundings to produce brilliant representations of the beautiful area he lives in.

Rory is married with 4 children and currently lives in Mattituck, Long Island, New York.
